7 decorating lessons from Cookie Lyon

One of my favorite shows last season was EMPIRE.  Empire is a modern day soap drama  on Fox TV that portrays the fictional music industries Lyon family. When Cookie Lyon, the diva of the Lyon’s family strutted out of prison after an 18 year stint like she was strolling the catwalk  at Bryant Park (#NYFW) I knew it was going to be good.

Since #NYFW just wrapped and I’m aching for my favorite fall shows to return I thought I would do a design mashup with one of my favorite tv show characters- Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson.

Recap:

The show EMPIRE is about a music mogul family- The Lyons. We are privy to this dysfunctional families back-stabbing, sibling rivalry, and mayhem surrounding the family all dubbed and mixed to an original smash hit soundtrack.

Cookie’s ex-husband, Lucious Lyon, played by Terrance Howard is ruthless. He didn’t even bring Cookie’s babies to see her while she was in prison taking the fall for him. Now Cookie is out to claim what is hers and what she helped Lucious create.

Rawr

Taraji P. Hinton’s  Cookie  is brash and sassy. Her style is over the top bold, celebrates her sexiness, and she works animal prints and fur like a boss.

I guess nobody is brave enough to tell Cookie that wearing three pieces of animal print is a bit too much.  But we can’t get enough of her one-liners and swagger.

So I thought it would be fun to take some decorating lessons from Cookie Lyon.
