During the summer months I eat as many meals as possible outside. I don’t know what it is about dining outdoors. I think I like the ceremony of it all. It just seems more intentional, more care taken, more connection to Mother Earth and the friends you’re breaking bread with on the lawn.
How does a bicycle, a blanket, and a bottle of wine become a dining room?
Which is why I was drawn to this inspirational image of the bicycle basket with the impromptu blanket, flowers, and wine tossed into the basket. To me, it represents a cozy, casual meal and dining experience.
The current Soulscape, Vim+Vinegar is a celebration of the spirit of summer. A little word trivia for yah. Vim means lively, enthusiasm, and energetic. So how does vinegar play into this? It’s a synonym, of vim! Who knew? Onto all things design.

Table-Its all about the table. It must be hefty, time worn, with a rich texture and large enough for a crowd. This table is solid, and rustic and represents the door behind the parked bicycle.

Rug-This is a statement rug and grounds the whole room. The gray and yellow oversized modern floral pattern is a nod to the flowers in the basket.

Light Fixture-The geometric shape of this modern light fixture plays counterpoint to the rustic dining table below. Also, the geometry of the pendant light reminded me of the linear structure of the bicycle.

Round wall Sculpture-Upon instantly seeing these wall sculptures I thought of the spokes on a bicycle tire. Its these kinds of finds that make me squeal…score!

Dining Chairs- I truly love these black and white dining chairs. The casual horizontal stripe upholstery is mimetic of the casual, classic yet elegant gingham checked blanket.
