Interpreting another inspiration image into a Mini Design Solution for you today. I’m helping you discover the secrets to a serene room.
I was inspired when I found Ina Jang’s photograph via Clear-Glass on Tumblr and included it in the Stark + Stunning Collective I love how austere it feels. How mysterious. How I want to know more. How calm, and serene it feels.
In my imaginary second home I would decorate like this. Just pure lines, shape and drama. In this imaginary home I have white furniture, no kids, no stress. (yeah right!)
Its a castle of calmness and comfort.
So if you just want to create a corner of peace and calm in your home, read on.
Discover the secrets to a calm serene room.
1. Use a minimal or monochromatic color scheme. The fewer colors in a space the quieter it feels. Choose colors that whisper. In this Mini Design Soulution the colors white, gray, and black are used in various shades to keep the volume down.
2. Texture is key to a pleasant tactile and visual experience. Visual texture or fabrics that make you want to reach out and touch them, like silk, and velvet, or wools keep the boredom at bay. In the Mini Design Soulution, the texture of the art is the focal point of texture and represents the frosted window from the inspiration image. The texture of the art, the wool chair, and the sleek lucite side table all provide a different tactile experience.
3. Soft, diffused lighting creates a serene room. This light fixture has a frosted shade (like the frosted glass in the inspiration image) and represents the black handrawn circle from the inspiration image. ( Clever, right?)
4. Lastly to create harmony and peace repeat a shape throughout the room. In this Mini Design Soulution the circle is repeated in the light fixture, chair, and side table.
The disembodied hand…do you love it, or does it creep you out? I was stoked to find this cool gold sculpture to personify the mysterious hand from the inspiration image.
What may initially seem very cold and stark can be interpreted as calm and serene. Hope you can use some of these secrets in the next serene space you decorate.
