This weeks Festive Finds are gift ideas for the creative, the artist, the meditator, the child at heart. I hope you put one or more of these on your list to Santa.  Why should the kids have all the fun?  Let’s sneak away with our own markers, coloring books, and blocks to meditative, relax, and have a little calming me time.

Have you heard or noticed the ‘adult coloring books’ on the market?  They are not that kind of ‘adult’. Although those might have a market too…just saying’.

Apparently we are all too stressed and instead of playing with a mini rake and messy sand someone decided it was therapeutic and calming for adults to color. And the influx of coloring books with intricate patterns, and zen-like characteristics by well-known artisans have flooded the market.

I must say I like the idea myself.  I really liked coloring on the placements when we took our small children out to dinner. As an art student I relish the idea of buying markers and paints. The cool thing about these coloring books is no artistic talent is needed.  Its all for your own enjoyment and peace of mind.

Just drawing straight lines with the Tombow brush markers make me say…aaaaah!  Have you ever used these brush markers?  These Tombow  markers are just divine. Heaven I tell ya.  I still have a few from art school and they don’t dry out and are worth every cent!  They come in a variety of colors and quantities and are so smooth.

Another secret thing I do is play with blocks.  I know, I know…shocking.  One of my kids toys I will never get rid of is  *cough* my blocks.  I have a very cool set of blocks the architect Michael Graves created for Target a few years ago.  So the white Lego kit will make its way on my list. I already have the House of Cards and the patterns on them are so cool.

Play on, my friends.  And get your self something fun to play and create with this season.
