He’s moved out of the cave, and wants to know how to decorate a modern masculine room.
A country boy at heart with just the slightest hint of a southern drawl.
He’s travelled from Austin to Zanzibar with his grandfather’s worn monogrammed leather bag.
As he strolls across the room he gets approving side glances, but his big, cheesy smile says he only has eyes for you.
You don’t need to turn around to know he’s arrived because the whole room fills with his energy.

Screenshot 2015-06-03 13.49.12Love a man who is well dressed and not afraid to be stylish.  This handsome fella made it into my Vim + Vinegar Soulscape because of his vibrant yellow v-neck sweater.  I tend to lean towards a more masculine, tailored, stream-lined and fuss free design aesthetic so it was an easy choice to pick this dude as inspiration for a Mini Design Soulution.

My Mini Design Soulution’s are where I take an inspirational image and interpret it for you into an inspired style

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #1:

Tufted Sofa- This sofa is in the Chesterfield style. One of the most classic, and definitively tailored sofas.  Its scale is large and overall masculine. Exactly the sofa for “the club”. This tufted sofa in a gray woven fabric is the foundation for the room as the gray wool blazer is for this gentleman’s wardrobe.

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #2:

Chair and Ottoman-The lines of this cognac leather chair and ottoman are sleek, tailored, and oh so cool like our dude. Don’t you want to just curl up in his, its arms and put your feet up?

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #3:

Wall Sconce- This minimalist and modern wall sconce reminds me of our gentleman’s sunglasses.

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #4:

Vase-This vase is one of two finds that made me want to squeal with delight and do a happy dance. The exterior texture of the vase is a nod to the gray blazer and its high gloss saffron interior lovingly embraces his cashmere sweater.

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #5

Tartan Pillow-You’re probably thinking, why is this in this room? But look closely, our Dapper Dude as fashionable as he is, is very traditional and classic with his tartan plaid pocket square. a genius yet subtle addition of tartan plaid.

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #6:

Beige/Yellow Pillow-This cotton/linen beige pillow’s texture is similar to the white cotton shirt and its pop of neon yellow trim whispers its significance in tying the room together.

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #7:

Art-Another pee my pants and squeal with delight find.  Seriously, can you believe it? This attract circle art is nearly the same colors and shapes as the spools of thread in the background!  Which translates into a great piece of art and this neutral room.

How to decorate a modern masculine room tip #8:

Bookcase-The apron at the top of this charcoal gray, nearly black, bookcase is interpreted as Dapper Dude’s hair line.  A bit of a stretch I know, thought I would give you a chuckle. But its still functional and gorgeous for this room.
Although many of the furnishings in this room are traditional and tailored, you can still combine modern and contemporary pieces for an unstuffy, elegant, yet livable vibe.
Neutral colors, scrumptious materials and subtle patterns contribute to decorating this refined masculine room.
Combine traditional and contemporary styles to create your unique, inspired style.
